India is a country of festivals, where every festival has its own importance, in the same way, Navratri, a festival dedicated to Durga Mata, will start on 15 October 2023. In these nine days dedicated to Maa Durga, nine different forms of the mother are worshipped, and all the devotees eagerly wait for the Navratri fast. Bhagat people decorate their houses and temple in a clean and beautiful way on the festival of Navratri. There is an atmosphere of devotion all around during Navratri. The whole family observes fast and worships with such a wish to keep happiness, peace, and blessings of Mother Queen on everyone. Mata Rani gets happy and fulfills everyone's wishes.

Red colored chunari and makeup etc. are offered to the mother with lions, which are given as a gift to the girl who is worshiped as Maa Durga on the day of Kanya Puja. The idol of Maa Durga is also worshiped in some parts of the country during Navratras and there is also a practice of making Sanjhi (Idol) of Maa Durga in North India.

Navratri fast is celebrated with great pomp for 9 days, in which devotees sow Jyo (barley) while setting up a Ghat in their house, on the very first day, an unbroken flame of ghee or oil is lit, which continues for 9 consecutive days. Till it stays lit.

  1. On the ninth day of Navratri, offer food and Dakshina (offering) to young girls or Kanya Puja.
  2. On the tenth day, perform a Havan (fire ritual) and offer prayers to Goddess Durga.
  3. Offer food to Brahmins or priests and seek their blessings.
  4. After the prayers and rituals are completed, offer Prasad (offerings) to the Goddess and distribute it among family members and friends.
  5. It is important to donate food and clothes to the needy on this auspicious day.
  6. The fast observed during Navratri is concluded by consuming a sweet dish made of wheat flour or Suji Halwa.
  7. The idols or pictures of the Goddess should be immersed in a water body, preferably a river or a lake.
